Consider for a moment the year 1820 at the two hundredth anniversary of the arrival of the Pilgrims.  Daniel Webster came to Plymouth, Massachusetts and on Forefathers Day declared:

…let us not forget the religious character of our origin.  Our fathers were brought hither by their high veneration for the Christian religion.  They journeyed by its light and labored in its hope.  They sought to incorporate its principles with the elements of their society, and to diffuse its influence through all their institutions, civil, political, or literary.  Let us cherish these sentiments and extend this influence still more widely; in the full conviction, that that is the happiest society which partakes in the highest degree of the mild and peaceful spirit of Christianity.

If Americans needed to be reminded of the Christian and Biblical roots of our nation after two hundred years, how much more might they need to be reminded after four hundred years?  Those who come to Plymouth, Massachusetts in 2020 need to consider where they may find the true reasons why the Pilgrims sailed in the first place.  Plan on coming to the American Pilgrimage 400 June 28-30, 2020 (register on-line at www.plymrock.org)!  You will be glad you did, and you will hear, see, and experience the fact that they came “in the mild and peaceful spirit of Christianity.”
