Queen Mary (“bloody Mary”) killed many who believed in Christ in the 1550’s. Many leaders prayed. They translated the Bible into the language of the people. The Geneva edition came in 1560. The result of this? The Great Reformation… and in its wake, the Pilgrim Church! The Pilgrims arrived at the peak of a revival and like a wave came on shore in Plymouth in December of 1620.
Prayer and revival are always linked in the Bible and history. What is prayer? It is communing and walking with God. Those who know Him pray that others would come to know Him. When God’s Spirit arrives many more people come to Christ. That is a revival. Revivals affect and change people, and people change culture.
