A native of Montgomery, Alabama, Tom was first elected to the Supreme Court of his State in 2004 and then re-elected in 2010 and 2016. He was elected Chief Justice in 2018. Director of the Alabama Judicial College, he has provided training for new judges and continuing legal education for all trial judges. Chief Justice Parker is known for his sound legal reasoning from established premises of law that have their roots deep in the soil of our nation’s history of law and jurisprudence. The Chief Justice reasons from the principle and premise to ensure the rule of law rather than creating new law through precedence and innovation.
