A Monologue by Dr. Paul Jehle in Costume as Rev. Thomas Barnard, Jr.
Dr. Paul Jehle will portray the little known story of Pastor Thomas Barnard, Jr. at 7pm EST on Wednesday night, February 26, 2025 in honor of the the 250th anniversary of the providential event of British Col. Leslie’s retreat at the North Bridge in Salem on February 26, 1775.
The boldness of this pastor who brought peace delayed the start of the American Revolution by a month and a half. The event became the catalyst to increase the unity of purpose for local town militias, and also caused them to be wary of secretive attempts by the British to seize cannon and powder. Providentially, these were essential weeks of preparation that allowed the towns of Lexington, Concord, and Boston to be ready for their respective roles of conflict.
This major event in American history shows a Pastor taking the lead in his town and, in this case, the results are in keeping with Christ’s words “Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called the children of God” (Matthew 5:9).
